Q. As indicated in your archives responses, the FERS supplemental terminates at age 62. I turned 62 in October and am still receiving my monthly FERS supplement and am not on Social Security. Can you elect to defer Social Security enrollment until a later age; e.g. 65 or 70, and still maintain the monthly FERS supplement?
A. No. By law, the special retirement supplement terminates at age 62. Because OPM hasn’t stopped it, when they do, you’ll owe the government for any payments made to you after it should have ended.

I have filled out the earnings statement the last two June’s. I exceeded the earnings test both times and OPM continues to pay me my FERS Supplement. It’s almost July and I logged into OPM and see that the supplement is again coming in July. When I have called OPM they seem clueless as to when it will stop. I can see another amendment to my taxes coming up. Frustrating.
I’m sure that its frustrating. However, like every other organization, the pandemic took its toll on OPM. They are probably backed up in every area affecting retirees. If your payments issues aren’t resolved soon, you may want to contact your member of congress and ask him or her to intercede for you.
