Q. I worked for the U.S. Air Force CSRS for many years and retired with a disability due to a car accident. I do receive a CSRS pension and a small Social Security pension. My husband worked for USAF active duty and retired after 30 years, and he passed away last month. He was receiving Social Security and an AF retirement check. The Social Security Administration says I will not get any of his Social Security, only my own small pension, because I receive a CSRS pension. Is this right and, if so, why?

Q. My husband and I are both retired from the Postal Service under CSRS. Each of us has carried Self Only coverage through FEHB continuously during our working years and throughout retirement. Since these premiums continue to rise, one of the plans for 2018 is cheaper for us to go with Self Plus One. If we switch to Self Plus One for 2018 because of the price, then can we each go back to Self Only in 2019 open season? Second question: If he passes away while he has carried me under his Self Plus One, can I immediately go…

Q. My ex-wife will receive a portion of my CSRS annuity as ordered by our divorce settlement. Since she was not a federal employee is her share of the annuity subject to the windfall elimination provision? Mine will be, but since her share will come directly to her from the Office of Personnel Management is her share also subject to the WEP?

Q. I am a CSRS annuitant who retired with a Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB) family plan in 2010. In 2016, my spouse, who is a federal employee, enrolled in the FEHB and I suspended my FEHB enrollment because she picked up our family plan including myself. What is my procedure to re-enroll, as an annuitant, in the FEHB? When should I do this?

Q. I retired from civil service in 1990, started drawing my Social Security in 1996 and have received it every month since. I don’t understand, however, why the offset is deducted from my benefits that are based on my own earnings. What I receive is not a spouse or widows benefit. I am confused, and have tried several times in the last 21 years to get an explanation and always got the same reply that I was subject to the offset. I appreciate any help you can give.
