Unused annual and sick leave

0

Q. I am taking a position in the private sector. I have been working with the federal government for 2½ years and was wondering if they reimburse me for my unused annual and sick leave when I leave or what happens to it?

A. You will receive a lump-sum payment for your unused annual leave. Unused sick leave has no cash value. However, if you were to return to work for the federal government, that unused sick leave balance would be restored to your account.
