Special retirement supplement eligibility

0

Q. Would I be eligible for the special retirement supplement if I postpone my retirement until age 60 with 28 years of service? I am 57 years old with 25 years of service.

A. Yes, if you mean retiring now and postponing the receipt of your annuity to a later date, No, if you mean leaving government and applying for a deferred annuity. That’s because you’d be retiring under the MRA+10 provision (minimum retirement age with at least 10 but fewer than 30 years of service). No one who retires under the MRA+10 provision is eligible to receive the special retirement supplement.
