Health insurance eligibility

0

Q. I am 55 and was recently hired as a DoDEA teacher. How many years do I need to work to be eligible to keep all of my insurance benefits?

A. Assuming that you are referring to the Federal Employees Health Benefits and Federal Employees’ Group Life Insurance programs, you would need to be enrolled in them for the five consecutive years before you retire.  Because you won’t be eligible to retire until you reach age 62, that shouldn’t be a problem.
