Q. Is it possible to be “rehired” by the federal government even if I’m receiving an annuity? I retired from the Department of Defense with 22 years of service.
A. Yes. However, with rare exception, the salary of your new position would be reduced by the amount of your annuity.

I also believe that if you return to work for the Federal Government after you retired and received a buy-out/bonus for retiring early that you must either repay the total amount of the bonus prior to your return or wait at least 5 years after you retired before re-entering the Federal workforce to avoid having to repay the buy-out/bonus.
