VSIP/VERA after submitting paperwork

0

Q. If my agency offers a Voluntary Separation Incentive Pay/Voluntary Early Retirement Authority after I have submitted my retirement paperwork, but before I actually retire, am I eligible for the payout?

A. Since you are already eligible to retire, being offered an opportunity to retire early would be meaningless. Since the purpose of a VSIP is to encourage employees to retire who might otherwise not do so, there wouldn’t be any reason for your agency to give one to someone, like you, who has already applied to retire.
