Q. I am looking for Voluntary Separation Incentive Pay retirement. What is the difference between regular retirement process and VSIP retirement process? How does the Office of Personnel Management recognize which retirement process you are submitting?
A. OPM has no interest in whether you do or don’t receive a VSIP. If you only meet the age and service requirements for early retirement, your agency will attach a memo specifying the authority granted by OPM; if you already meet the age and service requirements to retire on an immediate annuity, nothing else will be needed.
