VERA/VSIP after submitting retirement

0

Q. If I have already submitted my retirement paperwork to retire with an effective date of May 30, 2014, and then the organization offers Voluntary Early Retirement Authority/Voluntary Separation Incentive Pay, can I apply to take the VSIP without having to change anything?

A. It’s up to your agency. However, because you are already eligible to retire and have applied to do so, you don’t need the VERA. Further, because the purpose of the VSIP is to encourage employees to retire who might otherwise not do that without a financial incentive, there’s no reason for your agency to agree to give you one now.
