VERA and SRS

Q. I am 59 years old with 29 years of service. I received my Voluntary Early Retirement Authority package. I would like to take the offer. However, I have received conflicting answers when I call human resources. My minimum retirement age is 56. I understand that I will be eligible for the special retirement supplement under the “age 50 with 20 years” or “any age with 25 years.” Do I understand this correctly?

A. Yes, if you retire under a VERA, you will be immediately entitled to the special retirement supplement.
