Sick leave payout at retirement

0

Q. I am a FERS covered employee and am anticipating retirement in 2018. Will I receive full pay for all of my unused sick and annual leave?

A. As long as you retire no later than January 5, 2019, you would receive a lump sum payment for all your accrued annual leave. On the other hand, unused sick leave has no cash value. Instead, regardless of when you retire, it will be added to any actual days of service that don’t add up to a full month and used in the computation of your annuity.
