Life insurance after 65

0

Q. I just turned 65 in January, and I got a notice that no more premiums would be taken out of my check. Do I still have life insurance? Is it paid up, and if so, how much is it?

A. Assuming that you are asking about FEGLI Basic insurance and you elected the standard reduction, your premiums ended at age 65. At which point, the value of that coverage will begin decreasing by 2 percent per month until it reaches 25 percent of its original face value.
