FERS Postal Service

Q. I have 27 years in the Postal Service; my age is 56, and I am looking to retire soon. Am I eligible to retire with my full annuity? If not, how much would I be eligible for? Would I be eligible for early-out retirement if offered?

A. If you want to retire on an immediate unreduced annuity, you’d have to wait until you have 30 years of service. However, if your agency offered you early retirement under the Voluntary Early Retirement Authority, you could accept it. If you did, there wouldn’t be any age-based reduction for being under age 60 when you retired.
