Social Security benefit

Q. Will my Social Security benefits be reduced by me receiving a monthly annuity once I retire? I’m under the FERS system and will be retiring at my maximum retirement age.

A. No. Neither your special retirement supplement nor your Social Security benefit would be affected by your receiving a monthly annuity. They would only be reduced if you had earnings from wages or self-employment that exceeded the annual Social Security earnings limit.
