FEHB and Self Plus One

Q. I am a retired USAF CMS and a retired GS-13 federal employee. If I select Self Plus One, will my wife be able to continue under BCBS after I die if she is currently ineligible for a USAF annuity?

A. Yes, as long as you elected a survivor annuity for her when you retired from your civilian job. Note: You were required by law to do that unless your wife agreed in writing to receive no annuity.

I want to change my GEHA coverage from high option self plus family to high option self plus one during this open season.

    • If you are an employee, your agency personnel office can help you do that. If you are a retiree, you should have received an Open Season mailing that told you how to do that. In any case, you can either go on-line at https://retireefehb.opm.gov or call them at 1-800-332-9798.
