SRS and reinstatement after a break in service

2

Q. If reinstated after a break in service, is there a minimum amount of time that I’d have to work in order to be eligible for the FERS supplement at full retirement age?

A. No, there isn’t any minimum amount of time. Just keep in mind that minimum retirement age isn’t the only factor that determines if you’ll be eligible for the special retirement supplement. You’ll also need to have at least 20 years of service to retire at age 60, If you have fewer than 20 years service you’d have to wait until age 62. .

Can’t you still get the SRS if you retire immediately at 60 with over 20 years? You don’t need 30 years then I thought.
