Refund

Q. I resigned from the U.S. Postal Service and it is sending my return of retirement paperwork in the mail. When the Office of Personnel Management gets those forms, how long does it take to get the refund back? I opted for lump sum, direct deposit.

A. According to OPM, it will take about four weeks.

  1. My understanding your “day” sick leave balance is not calculated in your time of service (only years and months) when you retire. Is this correct, and if so, you will need to use those “days” prior to retirement or you will lose them.
