Q. Regarding your very informative retirement article published on Nov. 15, (Federal Times), could you please tell me when this same scenario will be happening in the coming years?  You see, for those of us who are not yet eligible to retire in 2010 or 2011, the information will be very useful in planning for our retirement year/date.

A. Here are the leave year ending and beginning dates through 2020:

Leave Year    Ending Date            Beginning Date
2012              January 12, 2013    January 13, 2013
2013              January 11, 2014    January 12, 2014
2014              January 10, 2015    January 11, 2015
2015              January 09, 2016    January 10, 2016
2016              January 07, 2017    January 08, 2017
2017              January 06, 2018    January 07, 2018
2018              January 05, 2019    January 05, 2019
2019              January 04, 2020    January 05, 2020
2020              January 02, 2021    January 03, 2021
As you can plainly see, the retirement planets won’t come back into alignment until after 2020.  That’s what makes 2010 and 2011 such good years to retire.
