USPS retirement and MRA+10

0

Q. I’m 59½, with 26 years of service as a carrier in USPS. If I retire now, how much will my annuity be reduced by, and will I be eligible for the supplemental income under the FERS benefit?

A. Because you’d be retiring under the MRA+10 provision, your annuity would be reduced by 5 percent for every year (5/12 percent per month) that you are younger than 62. Further, you wouldn’t be entitled to the special retirement supplement.
