CSRS Offset and disability

0

Q. I’m a CSRS Offset employee. Should the Office of Personnel Management start taking my offset before age 62? I retired on disability.

A. According to OPM, the disability offset is applied as of the first day of the month in which you are entitled to a disability annuity and are entitled, or would on proper application would be entitled, to disability benefits under Social Security. If you aren’t entitled to Social Security disability benefits, there isn’t any offset until or unless you are later entitled to a Social Security benefit.
