Military service and firefighter position

Q. I am 37 years 2 months old, and I am being told by the human resources department at a local Marine Corps base that my time as an Army reservist does not qualify for a reduction in my age to allow me to be eligible to apply for a firefighter position with a maximum starting age of 37. Is this true?

A. Yes.
