BRAC and early retirement

0

Q. If a base is closed due to BRAC, what are the early retirement options?

A. Title 5 U.S. Code Section 3502(f) has provided the Defense Department with a voluntary reduction-in-force authority, which allows the release of employees who volunteer for separation in a RIF even if they wouldn’t be subject to separation. To be eligible for early retirement, you would have to meet one of the following age and service combinations: age 50 with 20 years of service or at any age with 25.
