Grace period for military buyback?

0

Q. I was ignorant about buying back military time and was given some incorrect information about it. I now realize I should have bought it back. I have six years of active-duty military. I retired Dec. 28. Is there any grace period that I could still buy back my six military years?

A. As a rule, only employees can make deposits to get credit for their active-duty service. However, if your retirement hasn’tbeen finalized by OPM, you could still make a deposit and get credit for that time.
