Survivors and unpaid pension

0

Q. Are the survivors of a federal employee who retired and lived only five years to collect his pension before he passed away — then his wife passed only five years later — eligible to any of their father’s pension?

A. No. However, if there were any unexpended contributions your father made to the retirement fund that weren’t paid out to him and his wife in their annuities, they would be refundable under the standard order of precedence.
