Vesting

Q. I am a retired Army veteran. I have 26 months of credited combat time and I have 42 months of civil service time. The series and position I hold are going to be cut, with my civilian service and credited combat time. Do I meet the vesting requirement for a reduction in force, or am I out of the door?

A. To be vested in the retirement system, you have to have five years of actual civilian service.
