Annual leave and transferring agencies

Q. If an employee is transferring to another federal agency, is there a prohibition from using annual leave up until the time of transfer? For example, if the date of transfer from one agency is Sept. 21 with the gaining agency date of Sept. 22, can the employee take annual leave from Sept. 16 through the 20th?

A. I’m not aware of any governmentwide prohibition; however, you need to check with your agency to see what its rules are. For example, they might require you to be on the job your last day to check out and return any government property or IDs.
