Sick leave

Q. I’ve been with the federal government for less than two years. I’m soon to separate from service to pursue other opportunities. If I don’t use my accrued sick leave, do I lose it or am I compensated for that time in my last check?

A. Sick leave has no cash value. Your unused sick leave will be lost unless you later return to work for the government. If you do, that balance will be restored.
