FERS sick leave

Q. I’m a Title 38 registered nurse under FERS and I plan to retire Jan. 10, 2015. I’ll have more than 2,355 hours of sick leave to turn in and receive credit. I will be 62 with more than 30 years of service. What will my months of credit be?

A. Assuming that you didn’t have any leftover hours of actual service when your annuity was initially calculated, and you had exactly 2,355 hours of unused sick leave, you’d have 13 months of additional credit used in the final calculation of your annuity, with 94 hours left over and discarded.
