I have four years of civilian federal service under FERS and also have four years of military service. I draw nondisability Social Security. What retirement options do I have available?
A. Unless you have five years of actual FERS employment, you won’t be entitled to any retirement benefit. If you have five years and make a deposit for your active-duty service, your annuity would be 9 percent (5 civilian + 4 active duty) of your highest three consecutive years of average basic pay.
