Military buyback

Q. I am active and have 15 years on active duty with four months in the Reserve. I’m looking at a GS job and want to know if I can buy into the last five years of my military retirement?

A. If those 15 years were continuous, you may only make a deposit to get credit for all of it. If they were interrupted by periods of time when you weren’t on active duty, you may make a deposit for one or more segments of your choosing.
