Sick leave vs. annual leave

0

Q. I am going to retire in September. Is it better to use my annual leave for sick leave appointments in 2014 so that the sick leave rolls into my retirement? What is the formula which would tell me how much sick leave = how much extra pension?

A. To estimate the value of your unused sick leave, add those hours to any hours of actual service that don’t add up to one month; then divide the total by 174. The product will be a close approximation of the additional months that will be used when calculating your annuity. Note: Any hours that don’t add up to a full month will be dropped.
