Q. I’m a GS-13/Step 10. What happens in within-grade increases when I go beyond the 156-week automatic step increase period?
A. When you reach the top step of your grade, the only pay increase will be one that results from an annual across-the-board increase.

Unfortunatetly, you can’t.
ive been grandfathered gs07 and have reached step 10. my postion has now been deleted and ive been forced to take a lower stature positon. are you guys saying i not only wont get a raise but i wont attain any more money either?
what kind of BS is this?
I am not “you guys.” I don’t work for the federal government and have no say in personnel matters. What I can do is send you to the following website: http://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/pay-leave/pay-administration/fact-sheets/pay-retention. Once there, scroll to “Adjusting retained rates.”
Mr. Jones,
I am a GS-12 step 10, hired on at that grade/step. I have worked for the same organization for 7+ years now and have only seen the annual across the board increase.
Any thoughts on how I might get some form of a pay raise other than the annual across the board?
A pay raise? No. However, if you are a top performer, you might or innovator, you might earn a performance or cash award.
