Cost-of-living adjustments

0

Q. I am a law enforcement officer with 31 years of service. If I retire, do I immediately receive any COLAs the following year?

A. The amount of your cost-of-living adjustment would depend on the number of months you were on the annuity roll, For example, in you retired no later than Nov. 30, 2018, you’d be entitled to a full COLA on Jan. 1, 2019.  For each month that you weren’t on the annuity roll, that COLA would be reduced by 1/12th.
