Sick leave

Q. I work under FERS. On March 13, 2014, I will reach my minimum retirement age of 57. I will have 29½ years in. I also have six months of sick leave. Can I use my sick leave to get credit for 30 years of service and retire six months early?

A. No. Sick leave is only used in the computation of an annuity, not in establishing your eligibility to retire.
