Mandatory Medicare?

0

Q. I am a retired federal employee soon turning 65. Do I have the option of staying on my current insurance, or must I go on Medicare?

A. Your FEHB coverage will continue as long as you want it to. Since Medicare Part A is free (you paid for it through payroll deductions), you’ll want to take that. As for Medicare Part B, the decision about whether to enroll in that is up to you. If you do, you’ll have to pay the premiums for that.
