Part-time re-employment and leave

Q. I am a re-employed annuitant and the offset of my retirement has been waived. I work part time no more than 1,040 hours per year. I am being told that when I use my annual and sick leave, it is counted as work time and considered into the 1,040 hours. Please advise.

A. What you were told is correct. You’ve been hired for 1,040 hours. The countdown includes actual days at work, sick leave taken and annual leave used. It’s no different than you were treated when a full-time employee.

If you were on an 80-hour per pay period schedule, were at work for 70 hours, on annual leave for eight hours, and took two hours for a dental appointment, you would have still been credited with 80 hours.
