Maximum retirement and unused sick leave

0

Q. On Nov. 1, 2014, I will have 41 years and 11 months of CSRS service. I will also have over a year of sick leave. It is my understanding that on this date, my retirement will be maxed out. Does this mean that I will lose this sick leave, or will this year add an additional 2 percent to the 80 percent for retirement?

A. While an annuity based on actual service is maxed out at 80 percent, unused sick leave isn’t subject to that limitation.
