CSRS retirees and Medicare

0

Q. Are CSRS retirees required to join Medicare by age 65?

A. No, you don’t have to sign up for Medicare. However, it wouldn’t make any sense for you not to sign up for Part A because you’ve already paid for it through payroll deductions, and the benefits are free. Part B is another matter because you’d have to pay the premiums. Only you can decide if Part B is worth the cost.
