Calculating service time

Q. Is the annuity based on years of service or years and months? If I retire with creditable service of 29 years and nine months, will I only receive an annuity based on 29 years or will the additional months months be factored in (pro-rated)?

A. Your annuity will be based on all years and full months of service. Any days of actual service that don’t add up to a full month will be combined with any unused sick leave and, if there are enough of them, used to create additional months that will be used in the computation of your annuity.
