CSRS re-employment

0

Q. As a CSRS annuitant, if I am re-employed and understand the salary offset: How are years of service for leave, retirement from the new salary calculated, and do you re-retire by CSRS for the new federal service period?

A. If you are rehired, your leave accrual rate would be the same as it was when you retired. If you worked for at least one year full time, you’d be entitled to a supplemental annuity; if you worked for a least five years full time, a redetermined annuity based on your total employment history. To find out how a supplemental annuity is calculated, go to www.opm.gov/retirement-services/publications-forms/csrsfers-handbook/c100.pdf and scroll to Part 100A5; for a determined annuity, Part 100.A6.
