Eligibility for health benefits in retirement

0

Q. I am a new federal employee (start date in June) and was born in 1963. When would I be able to leave the federal government and retain federal health care benefits?

A. When you are covered for the five consecutive years before you retire and you meet the age and service requirements to do that: age 62 with five, age 60 with 20, at your minimum retirement age with 30, or at your MRA with at least 10 but fewer than 30. MRAs range between 55 and 57, depending on your year of birth.
