6c retirement

Q. I would like to retire in 4 years with 25 years in a position that falls under 6c. I retired at the age of 49. I’m interested in full-time work in the private sector. How would that affect my 6c enhancements supplement through the Office of Personnel Management? Would there be a limit on the amount of money I can make? Will my supplement be reduced?

A. With 25 years of law enforcement coverage, you can retire at any age and receive an annuity that is not reduced. Furthermore, you could earn as much as you want without it affecting your special retirement supplement until you reach our minimum retirement age, which is 57. After that, your SRS would be reduced or eliminated if you have earnings from wages or self-employment that exceed the annual earnings limit for Social Security.
