Special retirement supplement

0

Q. I retired March 31 and to date have not received my retirement supplement. OPM initially said it would be a 2-3 month wait; now it will be 6 months. What do you know of this long delay, and why are employees treated this way?

A. Assuming that you are eligible for the special retirement supplement, it can only be added to your annuity after your annuity is finalized. Then the payment is retroactive.

Note: To be eligible for the SRS, you must have retired on an immediate annuity at your MRA with 30 years of service, at age 60 with 20, or on early voluntary or involuntary retirement when you reach your MRA.
