When can I retire?

0

Q. I am 55 years old and a GS-5 with 20 years of civil service. Can I retire now and with how much?

A. No, you can’t retire now because you haven’t reached your minimum retirement age. The earliest you could retire would be age 56. However, if you did that, you’d be retiring under the MRA + 10 provision. As a result, your annuity would be reduced by 5 percent for every year you were under age 62.
