Retirement eligibility

Q. I am 53 years old and have been actively working as a federal employee for 15 years. When would I be eligible to retire?

A. You’d be able to retire at age 56 under the MRA+10 provision (minimum retirement age + at least 10 but fewer than 30 years of service). However, your annuity would be reduced by 5 percent for every year you were under age 62. Your other option would be to retire on an unreduced annuity at age 60 with at least 20 years of service.
