Legal right to survivor benefits

0

Q. My ex-husband and I had four children. One child is in college part time. My ex-husband passed away in 2012. I have gone to all avenues to get survivor benefits to no avail. What can I do?

A. Unless entitlement to a survivor annuity was included in the court order ending your marriage and that order was filed with the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, you would have no legal right to that benefit.
