Q. I’m a dual status federal technician for the National Guard. I’m going on deployment in a couple of months. I’ll have 30 months in my civilian job. Will the clock for my high-3 keep running while I’m deployed? Or will it pause and I’ll have to return to work and finish out the remaining six months to get that high-3?

Q. OPM states repeatedly *_When you reach age 62, your annuity will be recomputed using an amount that essentially represents the annuity you would have received if you had continued working until the day before your 62nd birthday and then retired under FERS._* So here is the case. Employee is 59. Last three years of salary are $60K, $59K, $58K, so a high-3 of $59K. If the employee had worked to age 62, she would have a high-3 of $60K not $59K incremented by nonexistent cost-of-living adjustment. So which is it? Does your high-3 get recalculated to *_represents the annuity…

Q. I am 66 years old and employed by the Peace Corps as staff. I am receiving my CSRS Offset, which is subtracted from my Peace Corps Salary. However, when I  eventually leave the Peace Corps, I was told that after three years of Peace Corps service, I will be eligible to recalculate my top three years’ salary, which are significantly higher than my original retirement CSRS Offset retirement benefit calculation amount. Is that true?

Q. I count myself as a fortunate GS-15 law enforcement officer who is hit with an over-earn limit every pay period. Although a portion of my salary is held back and not paid to me, is the entire amount still counted as part of my high-3?

Q. As a WG/WL shift worker who change days off every four weeks and works Sunday premium days and all holidays, can I count on these extras in my retirement pot? I am almost certain that overtime and bonuses are not included. I have looked in 2012/2011 almanac for the answer. To me, the almanac is geared toward the GS side of the family. I am planning on retiring soon after 41 years. From what I can see, my high-3 is based on straight M-F day shift base pay.

Q. I started working for the federal government March 10, 1975. If I retire Dec. 31, 2015, by my calculations, I will have 40 years, nine months and 21 days. Right now I have 1,142 hours of sick leave but have no idea how many I will have when I retire. Will any of that be counted toward year and months of service? I’m only a GS 7, step 10, so I need to know what percentage of my retirement pay I would get. My high-3 is more than $50,400 with locality pay. I understood that where you are living…

Q. I worked for the Department of Defense as a civilian physician for 16 years and then transferred to the Veterans Health Administration. I understand physician comparability allowance is part of basic pay for retirement for VHA. So, if I worked for the VHA for two years and then retired because I am at minimum retirement age plus 10, how would my annuity be calculated?

Q. I am a federal technician in the Air National Guard. I am in my last year of work as a GS-12, step 10. This will be my highest paid full year when it is complete. If I go on three months of orders and take a military furlough, will this still be counted as my highest tenured year according to the pay chart? Or is it actually on monies earned that counts toward my high-3?
