Q. I plan on retiring in November 2017 and am counting on the special retirement supplement since I will have 32 years of service and be 56 years old. I’m hoping Congress does not touch the special supplement; but if it does, do you think it will affect people like me who are really close to retirement? Or will this legislation only affect newly hired federal employees going forward?
Q. If I have 27 years of federal service and am 57 years old. Do I meet the criteria for receiving the Special Retirement Supplement?
Q. I am currently receiving Federal Law Enforcement retirement along with the FERS supplement. At what age or year will my supplement be reduced if I make over the maximum amount? I was born in July 1963.
Q. I have two questions: The first is about the special retirement supplement and law enforcement officers. Is it true that the earning limitation doesn’t start until LEOs reach their minimum retirement age? My second question: Can an LEO pay deposits and re-deposits, or buy back or waive military service to be creditable in an LEO computation for retirement? Or does the actual 20 years have to be worked?
Q. I’m a FERS retiree who is receiving the special retirement supplement. Is it true that if I did nothing at age 62 that the special retirement supplement would stop and all I’d get is my FERS annuity?
Q. I just received a letter from the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) stating that I am going to receive the Code 67 supplement as part of my Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) retirement. I was awarded Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) as of September 2015. Does my SSDI payment stop me from receiving the Code 67 supplement?
Q. I am 52 years old with 28 years of service and am starting FERS disability retirement. The letter from OPM says that if I am found medically recovered I will be converted to a discontinued service retirement. I am eligible because a discontinued service retirement is age 50 with 20 years or 25 years at any age to qualify. If found medically recovered and converted to a discontinued service retirement with age 53/28 years of service would I also get the FERS special supplement?
Q. Is the Retiree Annuity Supplement the same as the Special Retirement Supplement? I retired with 30.8 years of federal service and was over the MRA and received my first estimated annuity payment this month. I have to conclude that the supplement wasn’t included in the estimated annuity payment. According to one post for the Special Retirement Supplement, it won’t be included until the annuity has been finalized. Even though it isn’t being paid, has it been estimated and subtracted from the estimated annuity payment I am currently receiving?
Q. I retired March 31 and to date have not received my retirement supplement. OPM initially said it would be a 2-3 month wait; now it will be 6 months. What do you know of this long delay, and why are employees treated this way?
