Q. I am receiving 90 percent Department of Veterans Affairs disability pay, plus retired reserve pay, and retiring from FERS after 10 years of civilian service and paying in for a military deposit covering 14 years of active duty (to get credited with a total of 24 years for my civil service retirement pay calculation). Will they deduct anything from either my VA disability payment or my retired reserve pay, because I am buying back the 14 years of active duty?
Q. I have eight years active. I’m going to buy my time back; however, it will not be paid off within the three years. How much interest will accrue on the balance after that third year is over? Also, I am at 90 percent with the Department of Veterans Affairs. When I retire, will I have to give up my VA disability or does that only apply to retirement pay?
Q. I am a FERS disability retiree who will have my annuity recalculated in September 2019 when I turn 62. What is the formula I have to use to calculate my regular retirement? Is this something newly added since 2004 when I retired on disability, which would give me a total of 40 years 7 months combined with…
Q. I am currently retired from the U.S. Postal Service. I was sick, asked for early retirement and was granted it. Should I have asked for disability retirement from the post office since I am disabled? If so, what should I do to ask for disability retirement?
Q. If you are approved for disability retirement, are you responsible for paying for your medical insurance and life insurance coverage? Also, if you are approved for disability retirement with the governmental agency where you work, does this mean that Social Security will approve you also?
Q. I applied for Office of Personnel Management disability retirement and I’m currently on leave without pay. Back in April (around the time OPM received my DR application), I noticed the amount in Block 19 dropped from around $8,400 to around $60. Is this somehow related to my DR application, and should I be concerned?
