Q. I am 67-year-old annuitant under Federal Employees Health Benefits. I am thinking of switching to Medicare. If I switch to Medicare, will my spouse (52 years old) still be eligible for coverage under FEHB? If so, do we have to get her a self policy under FEHB, or do I have to continue to buy self and family to cover her?

Q. I have been on Federal Employees Health Benefits Medicare supplementary coverage with Aetna Consumer Plan for several years, covering my under-65 wife with a family plan. She turned 65 in September and chose a Medicare Advantage plan for herself. At open season in November, can I then revert to single status when I go on with the Aetna plan for myself?
Q. I am five years older than my wife. I have self-and-family option of Blue Cross/Blue Shield health benefits coverage. When I turn 65 and apply for Medicare, what are the health benefit options for my wife?
Q. I am a retired federal employee and will turn 65 in February. My wife, who will not turn 65 until June 2017, is self-employed and we are both enrolled under my federal retirement health insurance family plan. How, if at all, can we keep my wife covered if I am on Medicare beginning in early 2014? I expect that I will want to sign up for Medicare Part A and B (not sure about the rest), but am worried about how we keep my wife insured, too?
Q. I’m changing from family plan to single plan when I retire. How much is the coverage, and what does it cover?
Q. We are trying to determine whether or not my husband, a federal employee, must have self-and-family coverage on the date he retires to have a spouse covered under his health/dental/vision plans. I am not under his health insurance as I am covered by my employer. I will stop working after he retires. If he retires in a self-only status for health/dental/vision, will he be able to add me and change to self and family after he retires? Either at open enrollment or when I stop working and lose my employment coverage? If so, can you tell us where to…
Q. I was recently married (March) and changed my health insurance from self-only coverage to family coverage. If I were to receive an offer to take an early retirement, will I be able to keep the family coverage? I am under CSRS and have 33 years of continuous service.
Q. I am retired with the Blue Cross/Blue Shield family plan, which also covers my wife. She will have survivor benefits after I die, assuming I go first. Will she be able to continue on BCBS as a “self” subscriber if I die first?
Q. I will be a FERS retiree with more than 30 years and my spouse will also be eligible for a deferred FERS retirement but will probably wait seven years until he’s 62. He left federal employment more than 10 years ago, and I have always carried him on my Federal Employees Health Benefits family plan. I understand he will be covered by my FEHB family plan after I retire as long as I’m living. If I don’t select a survivor annuity for him, will he be eligible to get his own FEHB plan if I die before him?
Q. My husband has a Blue Cross/Blue Shield policy that covers both of us. He is three years older than me, so when he turns 65, do I lose the BC/BS policy coverage and have to self-insure? In case of premature death, do I also lose my BC/BS policy and have to self-insure?
